ACNE STUDIOS Spring 2023 Ready-To-Wear Review

You are cordially invited to the wedding of the season. 10 years of commitment between Acne Studios & Paris Fashion Week took place last night under an illuminating crescent moon. Wedding guests of all social walks were delightfully greeted with the sexy innocence of what is, creative director Jonny Johansson, wedding night.

The romance spews into the air as clouds of baby-pink satin sheeted beds float amidst matching carpets with handmade white goth-like candelabras standing proud under singular spotlights. The pink filled the room so marvelously that even the walls couldn’t help but emulate the hues as well. LEYA & Eartheater graced the show with their Nordic dulcet tone as our wedding party began their march down the aisle commencing the Spring 2023 Women’s Ready-To-Wear event. I took the show as a three-part story.

 

Introduced first with “The Rebellious Virgin” (Looks 1-19). Filled with the sweet pink satins, pastel metallics, waxed leather denims, white lace, & sharp spiked lining or accessories. We see the innocent punk rebel grow more curious with each look. From a white blazer vest paired with a cream lace knee length skirt with long pink ribbon nipple covers; to a sheer top matching the debut of AS monogram jaguar print that we find on trousers & handbags. There’s an evident erotic innoncence at play here.

The tension is apparent as the second section flows along. The differentiation is made by singer LEYA introducing her acoustic guitar to the show. We’ve now transitioned from light to dark with the use of deeper hues of browns, reds & blacks. The innocence still remains with the mesh, whites, & hints of thin flower belts planted in poetically. However, we see the sensual draping on the models through mixed mesh & satin fabrics. Playing on the unorthodox wedding attire while still being engulfed by the ethereal event.
A captivating character arises in look 46. Flowing through the sea of pink, she pierces through with the deepest red that is undeniably attention grabbing. The heart embroidered on her top & skirt bring you in close enough for her spiked collar & straps of her bloody heels to leave you scarred. In the story of our wedding, she reminds me of the evil ex that you worry will interject during the vows. She is no one to mess with & I couldn’t enjoy it more. Without any question, I consider 20-46 “The Guitarist’s Hymn at Night”.
With our last shift of the wedding, we see the guitar go away & a calm change of course as the checker tartan patterns emerge. The element of formalwear matched with the nostalgia of the patterns displayed in Acne style of sensualness & defiance pushes onlookers to think further than what initially meets the eye. The gradual development of “A Kept Tradition” (looks 47-55), shifted to long flowing skirts building up to our final look. A vibrant red-haired model strolls through in a conservative forest green gown with signature abstract Acne lining & a pale beige netting that ever so slightly peaks below.
Our final walk is coupled with the The sweetest wail by LEYA and the wicked string of the violinist, a powerful appreciation for the casting takes over. Unconventional sizing & facial features that push the box on what is & can be acceptable in this realm. To close such an enchanting evening, Jonny Johansson honored us with a walk of his own. He redefines the world of romance & celebration by allowing us to be a part of his world at Acne Studios. To many more.
