Under the celestial arches of the Hollywood Bowl, Jerry Lorenzo showcased his Fall 2023 collection for Fear of God. Introducing the first runway show for his reputable brand. Models descend down the runway as if they were beamed down from another world. However, instead of the usual divine-like dramatics that would be imagined from another planet, it was the world of what Lorenzo wants us to be a part of. Met with an elevated take on the classic “Fear of God” uniform, we are greeted with more blacks & darker tones than we’ve seen in previous seasons. The darkness drifted into the comfort of our usual neutral tones as a lively orchestra serenaded the crowd.

“Attention” is the word of the hour as the whole experience embarks observation. Introducing a new logo of a 90 degree angle that crescendos out into the next block of angles found on bags, suits, & pants. Lorenzo’s curiosity continues as he plays with his signature oversized proportioning. Adding pockets to a floor length trench coat where a hoodie’s pockets would be found. Another was the synching of the torso on oversized trenches with a thick leather rope that wraps around 3 times that appears as a nod to Adidas’ 3 stripes perhaps. Allowing other Adidas motifs to breathe throughout the show without it overpowering the creativity of the brand.

Lastly, the embrace of new materials, textiles, & engineering of the clothes were delightful to see. Hopefully we can expect more of this in how the brand grows in the future. With a great cast of models, athletes, and a closing performance by Pusha T, the show ended with a final salute as the cast stood tall creating a presence to be absorbed. Simply put.. the whole thing was Live AF. Everything about this show felt well planned yet effortless. As much as I look forward to big name shows & brands, Fear of God time & time delivers a unique take on fashion & comfort that includes everyone in a world of Luxury. Looking forward to more runway shows that bring us to his world.
