The King of Sizing, Simon Jacquemus, showcased his Spring 2023 line “Le Raphia” yesterday in Paris. Even though it was a stinging 28°F that morning, guests from all across the globe were greeted with the warmth of Jacquemus’ masterful creativity through another environmentally engaging set design. Stepping behind ceiling length sheer cream curtains, they entered into the mystically warm French ambiance that was filled the room with a shower of raffia. His reign still holds strongly as he plays with the contrast of sizing in his accessories.

From large flapping sun hats that vibrate through the air, to the tiniest finger held purses, to the newest addition of sunflower & daisy earrings that seem to sprout from the sides of models faces. Even with the extravagance of these items, it somehow didn’t take away from the serenity of the line. Jacquemus told Vogue he found inspiration in, “-girls you imagine in Portofino and Capri, going around with their hats and earrings and polka dot pants.” As raffia continued to fall from the sky, & the music picked up in tempo, I found myself in child-like awe genuinely captivated with the show. I have followed Jacquemus’s career for many years now & it’s so satisfying to see him stay true & expand on the ethos he has built for his brand. This show solidified we’re dealing with a seasoned designer that has mastered his niche of fashion with confidence.
I usually try to stray away from adding in my personal opinion… but c’mon? Did you see the denim? How could I not rave! I’m quite impressed & will be ready with all my coins for Mr. Jacquemus. I was also delighted to see the highly anticipated pink Air Humana collab with Nike make it to the runway as well. The show ended with the curtains coming down revealing a solar-like glow with models on individual platforms giving a salute to the contemporary design King as he gleamed down the raffia-walk himself.
To whom ever is reading this: I *highly* recommend taking the time to look through this collection. There’s so much more to absorb & enjoy than the few images I’ve added in this blog. I also added the YouTube link below to indulge in as well. Long Reign the King of Sizing. To many more fashionable tiny tinies, xtra large larges & everything in between!
